Heat Wave! During the heat advisory, the upstairs of the building will be closed for safety reasons. Scheduled groups are welcome to meet downstairs, and we'll have the A/C on for you.

This Week at Gaia House
R. MICHAEL FISHER BLOGS AT INTEGRAL THEORY CONFERENCE R. Michael Fisher, Director of the Center for Spiritual Inquiry & Integral Education (CSIIE) just returned from a four day conference on Integral Theory at JFKU, Pleasant Hill, CA. He presented on Spiral Dynamics (Integral) and the Academy. There were over 500 participants from around the world at the conference showing that the interest in integral theory and applications to world problems and development at personal and collective levels is growing and diverse. Michael wishes to remind folks interested in his recent blogs on this conference can be seen at http://fearlessnessteach.blogspot.com.
CSIIE is now planning a series of Fall 2010 presentations by a variety of local people on the theme "Serving & Sustaining Gaia: Are We In Over Our Heads?"-- so stay tuned for posters and flyers. As well, CSIIE is close to launching its Integral Map-21 Personal and Professional Development Certificate program this Fall. SHAMANIC DRUMMING WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12 @ 6:00 PM CARBONDALE UNITARIAN FELLOWSHIP Due to the excessive heat, Shamanic Drumming Circle will be meeting this week at the Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship (click above for directions).
There will be a larger area to work with, so if you would like to lie down while journeying please feel free to bring a blanket or mat to lie on and a pillow.
INTERVEG POTLUCK THURSDAY, AUGUST 12 @ 6:00 PM The InterVeg Forum series is lying fallow for the summer, but the meals are still going strong! Not a vegatarian? Not a problem! All are welcome to come enjoy a good meal and a chance to play in the garden. Those tomatoes are about ready to fall off the vine!
RICE & SPICE FRIDAY, AUGUST 13 @ 6:00 PM There is no scheduled chef for this week but that won't stop us from enjoying cooking and eating together! All are welcome!
We are looking for main chefs for the summer and fall to showcase their food and culture. Interested in being a chef? Feel free to email Aur Beck if you'd like to coordinate your own slow-food meal. Send a list of ingredients (within our budget) you need us to get so we can help you to prepare and share your tasty food.

The 25th Anniversary Good Samaritan Cookbooks are here, and a steal at $10. All proceeds go to help the homeless! For more information call 457-5794
ANNUAL MISSION YARD SALE FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH FRIDAY & SATURDAY, AUGUST 20-21 The annual Yard Sale at First Christian Church (University at Monroe, 457-6817) is scheduled for Friday August 20th from 8AM until 5PM, and Saturday August 21st from 8AM until 1PM. Sale items will include clothing, books, household items, toys and much more. Homemade baked goods will also be available for purchase. All of the proceeds from this event will go toward the support of mission projects, including many local agencies. Donations of sale items will be received at the church through Wednesday August 18th.
If you are interested in volunteering to help set up and/or run the yard sale, please call Martha Ellert at 457-6817.
