Voices
"In June, as many as a dozen species may burst their buds on a single day. No man can heed all of these anniversaries; no man can ignore all of them."
"Acts of creation are ordinarily reserved for gods and poets, but humbler folk may circumvent this restriction if they know how. To plant a pine, for example, one need be neither god nor poet; one need only own a good shovel. By virtue of this curious loophole in the rules, any clodhopper may say: Let there be a tree - and there will be one."

This Week at Gaia House
LABYRINTH COMMITTEE MEETING THURSDAY, JUNE 17 @ NOON Co-Director Kim Magwire is reforming a committee to look over our beautiful Labyrinth Peace Garden, and anyone interested in its maintenance, programming, and future is welcome to join! Whether you're an expert at flowers, meditative experiences, cleaning ponds, or you just really love the garden, this is the place for you.
If you are interested but can not make this meeting time, email the office and we will schedule the next meeting for everyone's availability as best as we can.
INTERVEG POTLUCK THURSDAY, JUNE 17 @ 6:00 PM The InterVeg Forum series has concluded for the semester, but the meals are still going strong! Come enjoy a good meal and a chance to play in the garden. Not a vegatarian? Not a problem!
RICE & SPICE FRIDAY, JUNE 18 @ 6:00 PM This week we are celebrating the first day of summer with a Native-American Slow-Food dinner!
We are looking for main chefs for the summer and fall to showcase their food and culture. Send a list of ingredients you need for us to get (within our budget) as we help you to pass on your tasty food.
Interested in being a chef? Feel free to email Aur Beck if you'd like to coordinate your own slow-food meal.
BITCH 'N' STITCH SATURDAYS @ 6:00 PM Arts and crafts, current events, good conversation, and a great cause. What more could you want?
Bitch 'N' Stitch is a weekly crafting session and informal discussion about social, political, and environmental issues. The art and crafts created will be sold to raise money for Gaia House Interfaith Center.
The ideas for this student-run circle came directly from our visioning retreat, and it's so exciting to see it come alive!
CARBONDALE SWINGS SUNDAYS @ 7:00 PM Whether you're new to Swing Dancing or you need to dust off your old zoot suit, Montanna Goodman is offering free lessons every Sunday night at Gaia House. A great way to meet people and get exercise, it's well worth braving the heat.
STEWARDSHIP AND SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE MEETING THURSDAY, JUNE 24 @ NOON Another product of our visioning, this committee will develop and help impliment ways to take care of what we have and increase revenue in the coming months and years.
If you are interested but can not make this meeting time, email the office and we will schedule the next meeting for everyone's availability as best as we can.
